Our Albergue

‎On the Camino hostels are called Albergues.

This is where we are tonight (Tuesday Oct 1).
We are in the middle of farm country.

There are many types of Albergues:
= Municipal - run by the community. 7 to 10 €
= Parish - run by the church. Make a donation
= Private - run as a business. 10 - 15 €. Private albergued also allow you to book ahead one day before you arrive . This is a big deal as albergues fill up quickly after 12:00‎.

There are also pensions. They provide a private rooms with a shared bathroom.

Most Albergues  offer a pilgrim supper for about 7 to 10€. They are fantastic three courses meals where most guests sit at large tables. My favorite part of the Camino is having supper with stranger from all over the world . Albergues usually have a large kitchen where you can prepare your own meal. It's pretty cool if you don't use all your food you simply leave it for tomorrow's guests.

I was talking to an owner yesterday and he said September was the busiest month on the Camino in years. Funny thing in the 1500 and 1600 hundreds ‎the Camino was busier than it is now.
