Well I have to say that was quite a day. 8 km first day. No problem should be easy. Much like a walk in the park. Wrong. Uphill? Yes sir. 2000 feet vertical.
We hooked up with three from Seattle and had a great walk. We arrived here at Orisson around 2.
The scenery is beyond words. I kept stopping to point out thinks but Morgan soon caught on that they were excuses for a break.
The word that keeps coming up is " privilege ". It truly is a privilege to be able to do this. To have family and work that let you book out for five weeks is over the top. To have Morgan along makes it perfect.
Our hostel has a deck looking over the mountains where we spent the afternoon getting to know everyone. Supper and breakfast are in a large pub like room. All eighteen guests are housed in two rooms above. There are also five overflow tents on the hill behind the building. All full.
It was cool today 15 but the sun has just come out and it is warming up fast.
I am always amazed by our kids but to see Morgan in a discussion with a train conductor in France was amazing. Daddy messed up and brought the receipt and not the tickets. Morgan convinced him that we should stay on the train.
Tomorrow we head up another 2000 feet but the slope is less than half of today's.
Over and out from Orisson - Sunday evening.
