Great day on the path. Morgan and I have hit our stride. Morgan figures we are at the lead of the second third. This is not a race but if you come off the trail later than 4:00 you will have to shop for a bed. Most people are using the same guide book so we all walk to the same destination every day.
Most towns have multiple hostels so by night 5 or 6 you have spent a night with almost all in your pack. I would estimate between 250 and 300 people pull into town every night. One can stop sooner or go further. However, there is usually consensus before you go to bed as to where we will stay tomorrow.
Funny we are kind of like a cruise ship. You meet people you know as you walk (on board) then when you come into a town (dock) you meet people out and about. ( in port).
As my dear old neighbor Doug Drake would say this place is a corker (good). We are in the basement of a church hall. There are 32 of us. There is no meal tonight so a young couple from Quebec City has taken over the kitchen and will sell us supper. They went to the market and bought supplies with the hope others will buy. I can smell apple cooking now. Hoping for apple pie. The place is run by two Irish ladies that were tired of being cold so they moved here. Nana Cora could easily have fit right in. Every second word is "dear". I have been told twice that the door is locked at 10:00. Not a problem.
